PREVIEW: Spoon to headline The Sylvee

Spoon’s approach to alternative rock toys with every bit of nuance the genre has to offer, from ardent, wavering vocals to racing instrumentals. Since releasing Telephono in 1996 as a blur of noisy guitar and rhythmic drum beats, this Austin-based group has taken on warbling strings and glittering samples on Get Nice! (2007), bright, stereophonic chords on They Want My Soul (2014) and electronica on Hot Thoughts (2017).

Lucifer On The Sofa, their latest endeavor off of Matador Records, combines the glossy classic-rock sensitivities of their late 90s releases with the confidence that only three decades of musical experimentation can supply.

Spoon is set to take the stage at The Sylvee this Wednesday, July 13th, 2022 – the second stop out of thirty three on a tour which celebrates Lucifer on the Sofa and promises avid fans the chance to hear their older favorites performed live as well.

The band will be supported by Bodega, an eclectic act which combines narrative lyrics and art-rock charisma with the pure energy of post-punk.
